Jewellery Care.
All items are made using 925 sterling silver which is the current industry standard. In order to prevent tarnishing or scratching please follow these steps:
Store your jewels in separate pouches or boxes to avoid them rubbing together, forming dents and scratches.
Store all sterling silver and gold in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
Always take your Olivia Taylor jewellery off before showering and swimming to avoid your pieces losing their shine or being contaminated by chemicals.
Rule of thumb; always put your jewellery on after your makeup, sprays and lotions. These products will cause your pieces to tarnish and discolour faster.
For gold plated jewellery, be extra careful as chemicals and extreme temperatures can cause the layer of plating to begin to fade.
For oxidised pieces, avoid water and extreme temperatures. The gunmetal effect is created by speeding up the natural oxidising process, creating a layer of oxidisation on the silver piece. This will wear through time when in contact with the skin. To preserve the oxidised effect, we apply wax to seal from the elements. If your pieces start to wear, we offer complimentary oxidisation so please get in touch.
If you do not follow these guidelines and your jewellery begins to look dirty, cloudy or tarnished, simply follow these steps to clean them.
To clean your staple Olivia Taylor jewels (silver only);
Place the pieces in almost boiled water and fairy liquid.
While being cautious, stir occasionally until water has cooled.
Remove and dab dry with a cloth or paper towel (be gentle to avoid extra scratches).
Finish off by giving them a light rub with a polishing cloth.
Top tip: For the Ondulée pieces, clean in hot soapy water with a light toothbrush to remove dirt from cracks and crevices.
For your gold plated pieces, gently rub with a polishing cloth. Please note, that too much cleaning can cause the layer of gold to rub off.
